Brazilian superstar Neymar has extended his contract with his childhood club Santos, aiming to return to the Brazil national team for the 2026 World Cup. Under the new agreement, the 33-year-old forward will remain at Santos until the end of 2026.

Neymar rejoined Santos in January 2025. Following a long injury layoff, he has not played for the national team since 2023. Despite injuries last season, he contributed significantly to keeping Santos from relegation in Brazil’s top league, scoring five goals in the final five matches.

After the season, Neymar underwent meniscus surgery on his left knee. His main goal is to regain full fitness and return to the national team. Brazil coach Carlo Ancelotti has previously stated that Neymar must be 100% fit to make his comeback.

Following the contract renewal, Neymar shared a video message on Santos’ social media, saying, “Santos is my home. This is where I want to fulfill my unfinished dreams.”

Notably, Neymar spent nearly a year off the pitch after tearing his ACL in October 2023. Now fully recovered, he is preparing for the 2026 World Cup.

Having scored 79 goals in 128 appearances for Brazil, Neymar remains the country’s top scorer. The superstar is set to begin his preparations at Santos, aiming to shine once again on the world stage.
