Drama in JnU Student Union Election: Chhatra Shibir VP Candidate Takes the Lead
In the Jagannath University (JnU) Central Student Union elections, vote counting has taken a dramatic turn. After trailing in ten consecutive centers, Chhatra Shibir-supported VP candidate Riazul Islam has regained the lead over Chhatra Dal-backed AKM Rakib.
The 25th center, the Department of Drama, declared its results on Wednesday at 4:30 PM, where Riazul Islam led by 80 votes. Previously, AKM Rakib had been ahead after 20 centers. The new results from five additional centers shifted the balance in favor of Chhatra Shibir.
So far, in 23 centers, Riazul Islam has secured 2,819 votes, while AKM Rakib received 2,691. Chhatra Shibir-backed candidates are leading in the VP, GS, and AGS posts, as well as most editorial positions. However, Chhatra Dal remains ahead in the Library Secretary and Culture Secretary posts, and some executive member positions.
Results have been declared from 25 centers including Marketing, Pharmacy, Statistics, Genetic Engineering, Microbiology, Finance, Public Administration, Biochemistry, Anthropology, Social Work, Sociology, Mass Communication & Journalism, Printmaking, Sculpture & Drawing, Zoology, Geography & Environment, Botany, CSE, Land Management & Law, Philosophy, Mathematics, Islamic Studies, IER, English, and Drama.
