Security Forces to be Deployed for 7 Days for 13th National Parliament Election
The government has finalized a massive security layout to ensure a peaceful environment for the upcoming 13th National Parliament Election. A circular issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs on Wednesday (January 7) confirmed that law enforcement agencies and the military will be deployed for seven days, spanning from February 8 to February 14.
Under this "Election Deployment" phase, the Armed Forces—comprising the Army, Navy, and Air Force—will act as a striking force. They will be stationed at strategic "Nodal Points" across districts, upazilas, and metropolitan areas to assist the local civil administration in maintaining order.
High-Tech Surveillance & Ground Security The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) have been authorized to use advanced technology, including drones and helicopters, alongside dog squads for real-time monitoring. For polling station security, a reinforced team of Police and Ansar members will be stationed at every center. "Important" (vulnerable) centers will have up to four armed police officers in metropolitan areas.
Traffic & Weapon Restrictions To prevent any untoward incidents, the government has announced strict travel bans:
Motorcycles: Prohibited from midnight Feb 10 to midnight Feb 13.
Public Transport: Taxicabs, microbuses, and trucks are restricted from midnight Feb 11 to midnight Feb 12.
Firearms: Licensed weapons cannot be carried or displayed until Feb 14.
A 24/7 "Law and Order Monitoring Cell" will be active at the Election Commission from February 10 to oversee the situation. Joint forces are also set to launch special drives to recover illegal arms and apprehend listed criminals before the voting begins.
