Tarique Rahman to Embark on 4-Day Northern Tour; Will Visit Shaheed Abu Sayeed’s Grave
BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman is scheduled to begin a four-day tour of the northern districts starting January 11. The visit, which runs through January 14, is aimed at honoring the martyrs of the "July Revolution" and those who lost their lives in long-standing democratic movements.
According to a press release issued by the BNP Chairperson’s office on Wednesday (January 7), the tour will also include prayer sessions for the departed soul of former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia. The party has officially stated that Tarique Rahman will strictly adhere to the election code of conduct as mandated by the Election Commission during all public engagements.
Tour Itinerary & Key Highlights:
January 11: The journey begins from Dhaka, with stopovers for meetings with party activists in Gazipur, Tangail, and Sirajganj, before staying overnight in Bogra.
January 12: He will travel through Rangpur, Dinajpur, and Thakurgaon. A major highlight of the day will be his visit to the grave of Shaheed Abu Sayeed in Rangpur to offer prayers and pay his respects.
January 13: The Acting Chairman will hold organizational meetings and exchange views with local leaders in Panchagarh, Nilphamari, Lalmonirhat, and Kurigram.
January 14: On the final day, he will participate in several programs in Rangpur and Bogra before returning to the capital.
During the tour, Tarique Rahman is also expected to visit the shrines and graves of prominent figures, including Maulana Abdul Hamid Khan Bhasani and Tayyaba Majumder. Beyond the symbolic tributes, he is scheduled to have private meetings with the families of those killed during the July-August mass uprising to offer his condolences.
